MANILA, Philippines — One of the suspects behind the Tacloban City school shooting previously played a “violent” game prior to the incident, the Police Regional Office Eastern Visayas (PRO 8) said on Tuesday.

In a phone interview with reporters, PRO 8 director Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy said, “As per our investigation, it was GoreBox.”

“It is a shooting game. There are firearms there. The game is rather violent,” he added.

The perpetrators, two male Grade 9 students aged 14 and 15, opened fire inside the San Jose National High School premises on Monday morning, killing at least three students and injuring several others.

Capoy identified the 14-year-old suspect as the one who had played GoreBox.

“Actually, at one point in time, he was brought to a shooting range. He was not really proficient or experienced, but he knew how to manipulate a gun to release a magazine and reload,” the PRO 8 chief further explained.

The Inquirer sought comment from GoreBox’s developer, F2 Games, through their official website. The Inquirer will publish their statement once available. /das
