Appliance and gadgets stores have been evolving into lifestyle-focused experience centers, where consumers get to try on a product before deciding on a purchase.

The latest international digital brand to start this trend in the Philippines is Sony, which recently opened its first PlayStation flagship store in SM Megamall.

Located at the fourth floor Megamall building two, Sony’s flagship store highlights all Sony devices including Bravia 4K TVs and home entertainment products, Hi-Res audio products, Walkman, ActionCam, Alpha and cyber shots cameras, and Xperia tablets and smartphones.

The most interesting part of the store is the PlayStation corner, where fans of this popular gaming console could experience real gaming like they were inside a gaming arcade. Get comfortable on the racing gaming chair as you enjoy a heart pounding race played on a big-screen 4K TV Sony Bravia. Check out the Walkman headphones and go on a sound trip bliss. Or better yet, hop on a surfboard and pretend you’re surfing the huge waves ala Luke Landrigan with a Sony ActionCam recording it all for you.

Sony Philippines officials, who opened the store to the public on Thursday, said the flagship store provides a “complete digital lifestyle experience.” As Sony’s first PlayStation flagship store in the Philippines, it aims to bring a more complete PlayStation environment including all consoles, games, support, and accessories among others.

In fact, the PlayStation Corner features a demo area with a comprehensive selection of the latest and most popular game software titles, allowing gamers to get a better gaming experience by sampling the newest features on Sony’s powerful gaming consoles.

“The PlayStation flagship store brings the gaming experience to new heights in the Philippines with its experiential concept to engage the gamers,” said Nobuyoshi Otake, president and managing director of Sony Philippines.

The product experience doesn’t stop there. Sony has also put in place a digital workshop, which are hands-on trainings to help consumers maximize their Sony devices such as cameras or camera smartphones.

Just check out the store for the much-needed information including training schedules and updates.
The first to be offered in the next six months is photography training, which will be facilitated by the wedding and fashion photographer Pilar Tuason.

“The new Sony Center and Digital Workshop signify Sony’s commitment in enhancing the digital lifestyle of Filipinos,” said Nobuyoshi Otake.

“To make this vision possible, we have strived hard to put a more integrated and extensive Sony Center where consumers can enjoy a complete brand experience that goes beyond products. We are thrilled to provide them the Sony Digital Workshop to help enhance their skills and passion for consumer technology.”

Pilar Tuason shared, “I am proud to be part of this new chapter for Sony Philippines. This endeavor will impact on the lives of many Filipinos. For the past years, I can see more and more becoming attracted into opening their own photo studios, while others have chosen to be full time as professionals, covering weddings, birthdays and other memorable events.”
