PBA All-Star logo contest winner DQ'd due to copied entry

MANILA--Even in a logo-making contest, copying someone's logo and modifying it to become your own is a no-no.

The PBA announced on Friday that it will recall the winnings it is set to give to John Paul Limos after finding out that his PBA All-Star Sketch the Logo entry was an apparent rip-off of a promotional logo.

Limos' design was announced as the winner of the said contest on Thursday following a deliberation made by Commissioner Willie Marcial, Magnolia team manager Alvin Patrimonio, and PBA Press Corps president Gerry Ramos.

But a concerned fan noticed the similarity of Limos' entry to that of the official logo of the PlayPark All-Stars, an e-sports event series pitting local Special Forces and Cabal guilds, and posted it in the PBA's Facebook page.

Upon confirmation, the jury decided to disqualify Limos' entry and reopen the logo contest.

"Thank you, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) for taking immediate action regarding this matter," PlayPark said in a statement via its Facebook page.

The winner of the said contest will win a round-trip for two to either of the three PBA All-Star Week venues, Digos, Batangas City, and Iloilo City.
