The Anime, Console, and Online Gaming Event 2008 , or simply AniCon 2008 , [note 1] was a joint Philippine convention organized by Otakuzine Anime Magazine and GamEX magazine , in partnership with the online community group Pinoy Xbox and the live service game publisher Level Up! . It was held on Sunday, October 5, 2008, at the Megatrade Hall 3 in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Philippines.
GameX
GameX was a game credit (ePIN) distribution portal launched by Philippine-based telecommunications company Smart Communications, Inc. in 2014. Unlike traditional distributors like Load Central, which requires middle-man retailers, GameX allows the users of Smart's line of cellular services, Smart, Talk N' Text, and Sun Cellular, to either use their mobile prepaid load and convert it directly into game credit, or have it charged to their postpaid bill.

In early May 2024, a major controversy occurred in the international gaming community when the popular cooperative game Helldivers 2 , published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and is available on Windows via Steam platform, announced that it would be requiring players to link their Steam accounts to PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts . Since the game's launch, linking Steam accounts to PSN was optional.
