The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment as part of the PlayStation line of consoles. It was first released between 2006 and 2007 in the United States and the PAL region, however, the console was only launched in the Philippines years later in March 2010.

The PlayStation 3 is the first console with "proper" support from Sony in the Philippines. Previous consoles in the PlayStation line had limited test launches in the country.

The PS3 was followed by the PS4 in 2014.

About

PlayStation 3 launch

In January 2007, Sony Philippines President Hiroaki Kobayashi stated that the PS3 was not likely to debut in the Philippines "soon" due to software piracy in the country.[1] The console would eventually launch in the Philippines alongside the handheld console PlayStation Portable 3000 series on March 27, 2010. A Philippine launch roadshow was held on March 27 and 28, 2010 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.[2]

The consoles and games were launched at the following prices:[3]
