RF Online, which stands for "Rising Force", is a free-to-play sci-fi MMORPG originally developed by South Korean developer CCR. A Philippine server was published under Level Up! from 2005 until 2013. A SEA server was published by PlayPark from 2017 until 2024. There are currently no official RF Online servers being published as of 2024.

The RF Online IP was transferred to South Korean mobile game developer Netmarble Corp. in 2020 when it acquired CCR. PlayPark's RF Online is the last official server to operate, as Netmarble decided to terminate all servers globally for the game in 2023 and 2024.

Philippine RF Online under Level Up!

A Philippine server was originally published by Level Up!. On May 24, 2005, Level Up! announced the acquisition of RF Online. The game's website launched on June 14, 2005. The game into open beta on November 18, 2005. It was launched commercially on January 10, 2006.[1]

The game was originally on a pay-to-play subscription model, with more expensive subscription rates than Level Up!'s first MMORPG, Ragnarok Online. However, on August 28, 2007, the game went free-to-play together with the arrival of Episode 2 - Giga 1: Pioneers of Novus.[2]

On April 24, 2009, Level Up! released the 2.2.3 patch for RF Online, known as Novus Rising. It features the blue and gold MAU for Bellato, the Gold Isis for Cora, and the Black and Blue Siege Kits for Accretia. It also features the release of a new map, Elven Continent.

The Philippine server was closed down on June 25, 2013.

PlayPark RF Online

SEA servers were published by PlayPark from 2017 until 2024. PlayPark's servers excluded Indonesia, as that country's RF Online license was held by a different publisher.

On December 23, 2023, PlayPark's RF Online team announced that the game would be closed down on January 31, 2024. The decision to terminate PlayPark's license was made by the new IP owner, Netmarble. This came after the North American and Indonesian servers were shut down on February 21, 2023, and December 29, 2023, respectively.

Music

When the game was still published by Level Up!, four original songs based on RF Online were created and performed by various Filipino music artists. "Empire Accretia" by Razorback, "Birthright" by Loquy, and "Battlecry" by Greyhoundz were released in the 2007 music album Level Up! The Album. "Novus is Burning" by Wolfgang was released in the 2008 music album Live! The Album: Music of the Level Up! Nation.
